6 Things You Have To Pay Attention For While Creating Your Social Profile

In your daily life it is your clothes and attitude, in your business life it s your website and card that tells about you. You get positive or negative reactions thanks to them. Either they are useful for you, either they knock you out. The profiles you are going to set up in social media services tell about you just like these, they let others have an idea about you.

You start using social media services by creating a profile. You can’t run without knowing how to walk, your first steps should be solid. There are many important things you should pay attentions while creating your profile.

1. Username

When you meet someone, the first thing you tell about yourself is your name. Nobody around us calls us with more than one name. Even if some of us have two names, our friends just use one of them to call out. Because the easiest way to remember us, to tell about us and to speak to us is using our name. If we use different names in different circles, we’ll even have to remeet people we already know. Besides, it would get much more difficult for us to be remembered.

Our usernam on social media has the same value as our real name we are using in our ordinary life. And like it is in real life, social media is also constituted of creating relations and communicating. Think about how you would like to be remembered and choose a suitable username. If you are not a black metal artist, producer or content creator, don’t choose a username like ‘balckmetal666′ because you just like that kind of music. Your favorite movie might be Matrix but don’t let your username be ‘Neo85′ :).

As I want to be remembered with my real name and family name, my username is ‘cagdasunal’. You can find me on all popular social media services with that username. If the username composed from your name and family name is already taken, try different combinations. For exemple, combinations like ‘cagdas.unal, cagdas_unal, cunal, cagdasu, cagunal’ would be suitable for me…

2. E-mail Address

Many social media services don’t share your e-mail adress with others and doesn’t show it to the other users due to the privacy policy. But in some social networks like Facebook and Xing, people you have added to your contact list can see your e-mail address, contact with you using that address.

That’s why you have to own an e-mail address you check frequently, easy to use and easy to remember. A harmony between your username and your e-mail address will make it easier to remember. In my previous article I’ve explained to you why you should prefer Gmail.

3.Password

You wake up one day and start the day with your favorite song. Before you even get rid of your morning erection, someone on the other side of your planet experiences the orgasm of hacking all of your accounts :). You are using the same simple password for all of your accounts, aren’t you? God forgives but creatures don’t my young friend.

You have to use passwords that are difficult to guess for each account. But you don’t have to memorise them all. I’ve told you about Passpack. Use it.

4. True Informations

Even the biggest confidence men don’t like lies. Social media is consisting of communication and relations. You have to earn the trust of people. The first thing to do about it is to give true information on your profile. It is not enough that those informations are correct, they also have to be complete. If you have a website, tell about it, mention your profession, tell about your hobbies and specialities while talking about your interests. Besides, your profile will be easier to find thanks to these informatons.

5. About You

That’s the most difficult part. To tell about yourself is as difficult as risky. You might be misunderstood if you don’t tell enough. If you tell too much, you’ll seem boring and exagerating.

A personal introduction is not composed of your life story. Nobody cares about where you have grown up or which schools you graduated from. There’s only one cause for people to read it; that’s to get to know you. I’m sure you wouldn’t like to look like someone constituting of nation and diplomes.

Define yourself first while preparing a personal introduction. You can also tell about your profession and your specialities. Then, tell about a few personal features and goals. The longest introduction shouldn’t be longer than 10 lines.

Some social media services just let you write a few sentences. For exemple, you just have a space of 140 characters on Twitter. That’s why you shouldn’t forget to prepare an introduction that defines you shortly, a sincere introduction composed of one sentence.
